1. Parang Badau

Named Parang Badau because this weapon does have a long history of the Kingdom of Badau which stood in the 13th century. When the Badau Kingdom was led by the king with the title Ronggo Udo, there was a blacksmith master who came from the Majapahit Kingdom to teach the Badau people to make weapons. From this then emerged Parang Badau made by local people who are experts at processing iron into weapons. Not only that, from the increasing number of Badau people who are good at making weapons, finally brought up several machete centers.

Weapons that are not too long and wide at the end are usually used by the community for farming and opening residential areas. But when there is a battle like in the kingdom, Parang Badau will be taken and used to fight and defend against enemy attacks. Parang Badau has the ability to cut very powerful. This is due to the weight of the blade which is concentrated at the end so that it is able to produce a maximum limit even with the least energy. From this ability, Parang Badau also uses it for chopping.

2. Siwar

In the old days when there were still many kingdoms standing, many warriors who used this weapon when in a situation of urgency. Continuing with independence, Siwar was also used by heroes against the Dutch. Traditional weapons that are similar to this long machete are of two types namely Long Siwar and Short Siwar. For Siwar is long because of its long size like the mandau from East Kalimantan. Long Siwar whose weight and thickness are specially designed are generally used for close combat. With two equally sharp side eyes, this long Siwar was often used when fighting against the invaders in the past. Meanwhile for the short Siwar has a pointed tip and a long size like a dagger. With the center that has an arch, then this short Siwar will be able to tear or slice the opponent. Because of its short size, this weapon is specialized for stabbing opponents in close combat.

3. Kedik

Finally, the traditional weapon of the Belitung people is Kedik. Kedik itself is a weapon that is widely used for agricultural activities. Like a hoe, Kedik is also usually used by farmers to clean grass or wild plants in plantations or in the yard. The difference with this hoe is that the shape is small and the shape is bent to the left. Because of its small and lightweight shape, this Kedik is usually carried and used by female farmers to clean small grass with shallow roots. This Kedik is fairly mild because it weighs no more than 2 kg. As for the size of this Kedik has a length of about 38cm to 50 cm.

To use this tool a person is required to squat and move around or deviate when cleaning grass. When cleaning grass, Kedik must be placed on the ground where the grass is overgrown and then pulled back until the grass is uprooted. This traditional weapon that looks like a machete or machete has curved or curved blades. From here then there are some areas in Bangka-Belitung which named this weapon as Parang Bingkok which means crooked machete. For the process of making this Kedik is not difficult because the raw materials are the same as machetes in the form of iron which are easy to find. From the ease of the manufacturing process and the high demand for Kedik, these traditional weapons are also widely sold in agricultural shops or hardware stores in Bangka-Belitung.
